More mega evolutions are on the way! The latest Corocoro has revealed two more unlikely additions to the “mega family”, with Mega Pidgeot and Mega Beedrill being confirmed for Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire, the upcoming 3DS remakes of Pokemon Ruby and Sapphire. Both Pokemon keep their original typing of Normal/Flying and Bug/Poison for Pidgeot and Beedrill respectively. Hit the jump for even more info!
First Impressions: No Guard is a fantastic ability, propelling the likes of Machamp and Golurk up to higher tiers just for having a 100% accurate Dynamic Punch. Pidgeot will get the awesome benefit of being able to fire off completely accurate Hurricanes, on top of other good coverage moves that will make it much more versatile. A “great” boost to its special attack rounds out the last of Mega Pidgeot’s known new qualities, an increase it desperately needed when considering its less-than-average offensive presence.
First Impressions: A increase in speed is just what Beedrill needs to elevate itself out of lower tiers, and the increase in its attack will be incredibly welcome as well. Adaptability is also a scary ability on pretty much any Pokemon with it – it increases the Pokemon’s STAB (Same Type Attack Bonus) moves to a x2 multiplier instead of the usual x1.5 multiplier. With two great attacking types in Bug and Poison, Beedrill is primed to be one terrifying hornet.
So what do you guys think of Mega Pidgeot and Mega Beedrill? Game Freak seems to be going all-out with mega evolutions in Alpha Sapphire and Omega Ruby, drawing a large pool of Pokemon across nearly every generation so far. Do you think Pidgeot and Beedrill were good choices? Be sure to let us know.
