It’s summer time here in America and many people are going on vacation. A very popular and traditional travel destination is a certain place with lots of sand, heat and water. It’s time to hit the beach! The ocean has always been a large role in Pokémon games. According to Bulbapedia, “As of Generation VI, there are 124 Water-type Pokémon or 16.8% of all Pokémon (counting forms and Mega Evolutions that change typing as different Pokémon), making it the most common of the eighteen types.” Today I have some unique themes concerning the beach, hit the jump to enjoy!
Remember the Legend of Zelda: Symphony of the Goddesses? Well now it’s Pokemon’s turn! Welcome to “Born to Lead”, a weekly segment where I talk about one of the many Gym Leaders of the Pokemon world. We’ll be covering the bio, team, and pieces of random trivia that each leader has to offer across the main series games in which they were introduced.
This week, we’ll be going up to one of the most northern regions of the Pokemon world; specifically, the top of the Sinnoh region! You either love or hate snowy regions in the Pokemon games, but one thing is near universal – Candice, leader of the Snowpoint City Gym in the aforementioned Sinnoh region, is one cool leader. If you have any questions, comments, or requests, please leave them below.
One of the most unforgettable things about Pokémon are the battles. Not just any ordinary battles; battles with the all-mighty Pokémon of Legend! Unlike regular Pokémon encountered in the wild, there is only one of each Legendary Pokémon: one chance is all you get or they’re gone for good (most of the time). What’s also special about this is the unique music that plays for each one. It’s not as dramatic as it seems but Game Freak sure knows up to amp up an important battle with the soundtrack! Hit the jump for 10 notable Legendary Themes from all of the regions of Pokémon!
The Pokémon Company has yet again released another Pokémon Super Music Collection on iTunes. This time round it is the Super Collection from Pokémon Diamond and Pokémon Pearl. While there is no denying the hype surrounding the upcoming Pokemon X and Y games and with Black 2 and White 2 still fresh in our memories, there is still plenty of demand for the DS Pokemon Games, totaling over 1 million units combined over the last year. With the most units sold in the past 12 months barring Black 2 and White 2, a 710,000 increase for Black and White is not too surprising. Released in 2011, the games are readily available in game and retail stores, and the sales have surely been fueled by the recent release of their respective squeals.
There are quite a few fans new and old who are still catching up with Generation IV it seems, as the 2010 generation II remakes HeartGold and SoulSilver together sold 270,000 units during the last 12 months. Diamond and Pearl round out the bunch with 20,000 units sold during 2012- 6 years after the games 2006 Japanese debut.
No matter what generation we started playing the main series Pokemon games, we all had to decide what partner to start our Pokemon journey with. There is a lot to take into consideration when choosing a starter Pokemon besides just type preferences and looks. It can determine how easy or difficult your journey will be for the first few gyms. Some starters even have a secondary type added when they evolve, which brings with it new strengths and weaknesses to deal with. However, for most of us during our very first playthrough of Pokemon, none of that really mattered. The most important trait, regardless of strength or downfalls, was that we liked them.
